Hi C,

Merry Christmas C from the north pole. We're up here at the cabin and it is crunchy cold....0 degrees, a two paw kind of cold. That's when the dogs freeze up, stand on two legs and need to be carried back in. But it is very beautiful, a White Christmas, frosty and perfect. Santa surprised me with a pretty little tree all decked out on our deck. Deck the halls...

Clara from Dubai

Hi from Dubai

Two fascinating days exploring on a stopover from Sydney to Rome.  A city of contrasts in every way, visually and culturally, epitomised by the architecture where the old meets new, the architects seemingly given free rein.  Buildings reach for the sky, jutting forward and upward with asymmetrical planes and angles to create the eclectic skyline.

Dubai Airport

The airport with shiny reflective surfaces and large marble tiles covering the spacious area, looked more like a modern upmarket hotel but this impression was soon balanced by a long walk in the wrong direction in 43 degree heat, in the middle of the day in the wrong shoes.

After imagining several oases which turned out to be mirages, we finally found the shopping mecca - Dubai Mall.

Grandmothers on roles / rolls on Mothers Day.

I hope you had a happy Mother's Day - or shall I say Grandmother's Day. I had a lovely card expressing appreciation from my daughter who always seems to be able to find the best cards. It even has a butterfly on it, significant because that has been her symbol. Mine used to be the eagle but he has been put to rest to be replaced by the dragonfly which flits from one thing to another and has heaps of fun.

Hope you had as much fun with AJ as I had with OJ  - as you can see by the video.

I am off to spend http://www.timeintuscany.com/ so maybe will send a blog or two from there.

Carpe diem - Bright Bright Sunshiny Day

The result is very beautiful.  The process is even more special as it expresses a sheer love of creativity.  Sometimes the quality of a moment is so amazing, you need to capture it. Translucent, ethereal.......Carpe diem - Interpreted in Latin as 'seize the day', or sometimes as 'enjoy the day, pluck the day when it is ripe'.   Clara


A Bright, Bright Sunshiny Day...August 15th

I snapped this monarch butterfly resting on thistle in my garden. I printed it on fabric, "framed" it with sheer muslin and suspended it in an old frame from my mother. This way the light can filter through it. I think it will be lovely propped in a window in the midst of winter. Thanks to Lucy and Karen for the seeds of an idea and Clara for the title.
