Singing gladdens the heart - especially the harmony of acappella

Dear Babyboomers
I responded to an invitation from a friend, "Some of our Northern Beaches Chorus group will be singing at the Mosman Art Gallery, come along.
So pleased that I went along - singing gladdens the heart. Many happy childhood memories are of being around the piano with Mum playing, and Dad singing at the top of his voice, head back, loving the moment. 'Mona Lisa was his favourite and he sang it every time, with gusto. Every now and then we would break into some harmony of sorts, which brings me back now to the Northern Beaches Chorus.

I looked up the website http://www.northernbeacheschorus.com.au/ to find out more.

Northern Beaches Chorus is a Sydney women's choir which sings 4-part acappella harmony, has approx 80 members, regularly performs on stage, and appears in local events and national competition. '
"We love to share our joy of singing with women of all ages and backgrounds in our local community and the chorus provides a whatsource of education in vocal production and showmanship" ........

And this is what shone through - sheer enjoyment of their moment which I was able to share via the body language and harmony. Have a look at the video to see what I mean.

Thanks lovely ladies.

So pleased that the shuttles are flying again

So pleased that the shuttles are flying again
Hi R
Ooohhh  - feeling very nostalgic -  back 30 years to the days of the Niddy Noddy, where I learnt to weave in your studio / weaving store in Waukasha.  We had such wonderful creative times, weaving 'joy and happy memories', before we were 'liberated.'  You were a great teacher, very dedicated to the process of weaving.  As you say in your post  "I had forgotten how much I enjoy the whole process; winding the shuttles, listening to the rhythmical sound of the harnesses and watching the fabric grows row by row, inch by inch."

The Niddy Noddy

This poem was given to me by my dear friend, Jane. I have carried it my wallet for many years resulting in the card being soft and fluffy around the edges.

The Weaver

My life is but-a weaving
Between my Lord and me.
I cannot choose the colours
He worketh steadily

Oftimes he weaveth sorrow,

And I in foolish pride
Forget he sees the upper,
And I the underside.
Not ‘til the loom is silent
and the shuttles cease to fly,
Shall God unroll the canvas
and explain the reason why.

The dark threads are as needful
In the Weaver's skillful  hand,
As the threads of gold and silver
In the pattern He has planned.
Anon.

Sadly, life got in the way of my weaving.  Maybe I can enjoy weaving vicariously through our blogs. Just at the time when I will have time, there is nowhere to put the loom, which is in pieces, with the frame under the house.  I need to put it back together and am working on G but it will take a miracle.

Grannies have fun Photoshopping.

Hi there
Technical matters - I decided to give us an Autumnal hue to fit in with the current theme.  Quite like it actually.  Wouldn't it be good if  life was like Photoshop where we could adjust ourselves.  An undo function would come in handy as well.

Yes I did yesterday's Wild weather video in Photoshop and today I changed the music - Vivaldi's 'Four Seasons' - Autumn to Winter.

There are apparently many women bloggers out in cyberspace - where they are becoming a force to be reckoned with - not online nerds, but sharers.  According to an article in the SMH 'Conquer the world, one blog at a time' by Julie Power, "In the old days, women marched to win change.  Now they blog.  Change starts with talk.  and these conversations are happening among the 42 million American women  who blog, tweet and update their social networks every week........ The cliche is that blogs are little more than an online diary.  but scratch around most blogs, and you'll find most women want change... whether is is healthier school lunches, more flexible hours at work, more buses or help with the kids."

Personally it's therapeutic to express ideas and particularly satisfying to share ideas rather than to conquer or win change.  I'll leave that to Photoshop.
