How to tie your scarf ....... or make it.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5LYAEz777AU&feature=player_embedded#at=25...
A great site but wait................

Isadona
"I dance what I am!"
The impetus for this particular blog, is the above link to a great video on '25 Ways to tie a scarf'  so it's time to revisit Isadora.

"Who was Isadora?" some may ask.
She was renowned for being a dancer who was usually adorned with a long scarf (like me) -  her early death was the result of an unfortunate accident involving her scarf and her neck.  Personally I admire her for her amazing spirit, and as with other feminist women, she blazed our trail. "What trail?" our daughters may ask. Another day, another blog, but believe me, "Baby, we've come a long way."

I would love to showcase  my special Isadora, who, as well as being a dancer, has made many many ????? scarves for a great cause.  "I've decided to finish out my year of blogging by knitting as many of these scarves as possible by February 9th, 2011 and donating them to area shelters. You can join me if you like. For more information go to http://www.shopatnextdoor.com/bluedotspecial.html "

Well done R.

23 days left to complete a year of creating a piece each day

Hi there to other creative minded friends
R wrote -http://shopatnextdoor.blogspot.com " I only have 23 days left on Project A Day! I've knit over 150 scarves so far and have at least another 50 to go just to use up the yarn that customers brought in.  I've taught Ula how to knit them and created a knitting monster. She loves it. June is also helping me, so now I mostly just sew them together. It's turning into a really great community project. Wish you were here...you are my missing link.

Clara - thanks R.  It's been a year (what was the exact date?) since we reconnected through Facebook and you have enhanced and enriched my life in many ways, including a fabulous trip thanks to wonderful Roberto, where we caught up after 30 years to continue just where we left off.

It has been a delight to be part of your Project One a Day, to witness your amazing creativity and drive, combined with community spirit.  What a great way to end your amazing year of creativity; ie cosy, stylish scarves brightening and warming so many lives.  Very very very proud of you!!!

I've been away on holidays and cannot believe how much has been achieved with this community effort - to such an extent that you have been able to create additional  pieces to complete your amazing  'year of living creatively.'

Winter woollies with pompoms bring back childhood memories

Hi R
I can see that the weather has turned verrrry chillllllly!!!
I love the warmth and colour of woolly accessories - so comforting as winter approaches. Not to mention how flattering a soft scarf or hat can be, adding glamour and colour especially with Pompoms - love that word!

Pompoms take me back to my childhood  - like most children of the day, we loved to make things, as children do today but they don't get the same encouragement and support.  Craft was important in those days - we lived in NZ and the cold season was long, although not as long as in Wisconsin - many engrossing hours were spent around the fuel stove, making pompoms.  Pompoms were one of my favourite crafts - since you never really knew how they would turn out until the final moment when you fluffed and trimmed them up.

The handwarmer takes my fancy - Capeable Hands...November 14th and also takes me back to where we lived in freezing fibro houses in the high country when Dad was installing turbines in the Hydro Electricity Schemes......  "Mum would heat smooth stones in the fuel stove , (collected in summer from the trout streams) and place them in a hand crocheted, drawstring bag, so we could keep warm on the journey to school. Those little warm bags in my pockets, gave enormous comfort."

Please tell lovely Roberto that he looks great in red - but who are the Badgers?  I thought there was only one team to back ie Green and Gold (Aussie colours).
